On March 26, 2025, an Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association awarded a client of the O'Brien Law Firm $152,140 in unpaid sales commissions, which was 100% of what he was owed. This Regional Sales Manager was the most successful salesperson for his then-employer, Act Global Americas, Inc., an artificial turf manufacturer for sports fields and aviation settings, during his time with the company. Act Global through its CEO John Baize strongly contested the claim but ultimately lost through a final 2-day arbitration hearing that took place in February 2025 in Austin, Texas. The Arbitrator also awarded pre-decision interest at 7.5%, which comes to over $27,000, given that this case has been going on for 2 1/2 years.

Likely out of spite, Act Global also filed counterclaims against the firm's client that were completely denied by the Arbitrator.

The O'Brien Law Firm is in the process of requesting that the Arbitrator also award the firm's attorney fees and expenses of $68K, which could cause the final award to be near a quarter-of-a-million dollars. Prior to the final arbitration award, Act Global's best settlement offer was $40K. The O'Brien Law Firm's client is very happy to finally get justice. This is a great win for the client, and for the firm.

Upon the Arbitrator issuing the final award with added attorney fees and case expenses, the O'Brien Law Firm will seek to enter the Arbitration Award in a Texas state district court. Once that final court judgment is issued, the O'Brien Law Firm will move to have the court appoint a receiver and put the company into receivership. A receiver will be able to access the company's bank accounts, collect accounts receivable, and sell assets of the company as necessary to get the judgment fully paid.
